About

The Sindh Professors’ & Lecturers’ Association (SPLA) is the representative organization for Lecturers, Professors, Directors of Physical Education (DPEs), and Librarians working in the College Education Department under the Government of Sindh. SPLA serves as a unified platform to advocate for the rights and professional interests of its members across Sindh.

History and Evolution

SPLA traces its roots back to 1971 with the establishment of the Sindh Lecturers Association (SLA), modeled after the West Pakistan Lecturers Association (WPLA). Over time, SLA evolved into SPLA through constitutional reforms to better reflect the diverse roles and responsibilities of the college education community.

In 1989, the SLA’s five-member PEC committee unanimously proposed the formation of SPLA, which was formally established in October 1990. SPLA was officially registered with the Joint Stock Companies in November 1990 under registration number 1141.

Constitutional Amendments

Throughout its history, SPLA has refined its constitution to adapt to the evolving needs of its members. The last amendment was made in 2004, which was duly endorsed and approved by the Joint Stock Companies. No amendments have been made since then.

Membership and Representation

SPLA proudly represents a vibrant community of over 11,500 active members who annually or biannually vote to elect the General Body. This elected body acts as the collective voice of the college education sector, addressing critical issues and ensuring members’ rights and welfare.
